What is a credential evaluation?
“A credential evaluation compares academic and professional degrees earned in one country to academic and professional degrees earned in another. Colleges, universities, employers and governments use credential evaluations to evaluate foreign education as part of the admission or hiring process.” - Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)
So where to begin? Start to research the evaluation process. Many of Guild’s Academic Partners accept evaluations agencies that are members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Please CLICK HERE to view all members of NACES.
What type of evaluation do I need?
The type of evaluation you need will depend on the level of education you last completed and want to evaluate. For example, a course-by-course evaluation is typically needed for university transcripts. High school transcripts typically need a general evaluation, but requirements may vary by school. Please verify with your school before starting the evaluation process.
What if I need a translation of my documents as well as an evaluation?
It is important to verify which agencies are authorized or accepted by your chosen school in order to fulfill the proper requirements.
NOTE: You will need to work directly with the NACES member on completing your evaluation and verifying document submission requirements. Keep in mind each agency has different requirements for which documents need to be evaluated and how they complete this evaluation.
While there are additional steps to be completed given your educational background, here is some general information about how to start the evaluation process of your education from outside of the U.S. Please read below to ensure you have the appropriate information to get started.
